Change is never easy, though not impossible.
We are living in times when change is happening rapidly, and often feels out of our control. It is in our nature as humans to orient to change with discomfort, avoidance, and sometimes even repulsion. I believe today is inviting, and indeed, requiring us to shed habitual ways of knowing and being to make room for a world we have yet to fully grasp. Systems change requires the people within them to change, too.
As a subject matter generalist, I have the tools and experience to help guide people, groups, and organizations through change using skilled research and writing, process design, and coaching. My professional philosophy is guided by unique lived experiences and a dynamic career path all grounded in my core values of dignity, racial and economic justice, and integrity.
Years ago, one of my supervisors told me on a regular basis, “you are destined for greatness.” At the time I didn’t understand what he meant by that. I like to think that everyone has a capacity for greatness. There is no monopoly on greatness or what it should look like. I have come to realize that hearing it from someone I respect and admire may be more important than the statement itself. Hearing that praise in my head with his voice has been a beacon of light in my life that I journey toward. It helps ground me in what greatness means to me, recognize it in others, and be firmly rooted in my values along the way.
I am a deep thinker, changemaker, empathetic and ethical leader, and subject matter generalist. I am a mosaic of my lived experiences, the care that others have poured into me, and a career path that is anything but linear. I engage my creative mind actively to see connections where others may not, to think in ways that are not typical, and utilize my unconscious thinking to understand and work through mental blocks I may have.
I call myself an subject matter generalist - meaning I am able to quickly attain both breadth and depth in the areas I work. Colleagues trust me to provide them with wise advice and suggestions. I am detailed and thorough in my work and driven by excellence.
My professional philosophy is guided by unique lived experiences and a dynamic career path working in nonprofits and philanthropy, all grounded in my core values of dignity, integrity, racial and economic justice, and mindfulness.
I am a dynamic professional with over a decade of experience in nonprofit organizations, with seven years working in philanthropy, a proven ability to work both independently and with teams, and a strong background in social impact, grantmaking, facilitation, research, writing, and professional coaching.
